About Wager on Sports
URL : Wager on Sports
Short Description : Wager on Sports is an easy to use sportsbook that offers lines on everything from the NFL playoffs to the Golden Globes. With an abundance of betting types and easy to do money transfers under the BetCorp internet gambling conglomerate, Wager on Sports is a nice little sportsbook to use in conjunction with BetWWTS, betholdem.com and betcasino.com. On the other hand, Wager on Sports does have its deficiencies, especially for people who parlay and tease - and all these factors should be weighed before diving in.

Wager on Sports Professional Review

By Kris Takahashi

The Look and Navigation

Every sportsbook knows that sex sells and Wager on Sportsis no exception. So the first thing they put on their site is a picture of a woman's behind, crawling on all fours into what looks like a bathroom. I can only assume it is a bathroom; after all, most people who are crawling and over the age of two are on their way to greet the porcelain God. As a result of my gross infatuation for watching the suffering of others, I decided to click on this link in hopes of satisfying my morbid curiosity. However, there was no woman to be found, only a list of special offers for the sportsbook. Once again, I am left confused as to what this had to do with the girl.

Registration was equally arduous for the impatient man, as they asked annoying questions such as "Where did you hear about us" and "What's your favorite color?" Well, it was a cross between an orangey turquoise and apple magenta, but now that you mention it, I'm not sure if that was a result of those strange pills I got from Bill Walton. Why are you asking me these questions anyway? Are you CIA?

The navigation is very, very simple. The links for the different sports are listed on the left and the odds are listed on the big page in the middle. By simply clicking on the odds you want to take, it pops up a small ticket next to it. On the ticket is where you decide if you want to parlay, tease or tickle the bets you selected. The only disadvantage is the site allows you to select opposite lines of the same game, like the over and the under. A minor bug, yes, but an inadvertent click can result in disaster for your parlay if you're not careful.

Deposit/Withdrawal

Deposit and withdrawal options include the following: Credit cards, bank wires, Firepay, NETeller, NETeller Instacash and cold hard cash. The deposit system is a little slow. In fact, I have typed this entire paragraph so far while waiting for the options to load up. The deposit system is the same for other sites in the BetWWTS family and you can actually transfer funds between the various sportsbooks and casinos.

Betting Types

On the one hand, you have a diverse wagering section that allows action reverses and dime lines for baseball. On the other hand, you have a sportsbook that severely limits parlays and teasers by making half the games ineligible to do so. When I checked the lines, over half the games were highlighted in orange, which according to the fine print above the odds means those games are not available for parlays and teasers. I've never heard of such a phenomenon in the history of gambling, but obviously Wager on Sports has decided discouraging parlays is good business.

Bonuses and Promotions

Initial deposits are greeted with a bonus, I think. It doesn't mention any bonus anywhere, but it does say you have to wager your deposit five times to get it. I know, it doesn't make any sense. First wagers are given a free play bet up to $50, as well as wagers on your favorite team (Why, they're all my favorite!). There are no reload bonuses, but the site indicates they will give random reload bonuses to deposits of $300 or more. How does this work? Do they have a big wheel in their office with everyone's name on it? And the wheel is spun! It's going, going, it's slowing down...and it looks like Ernie from Kenosha is going to get the bonus...oh wait! The wheel is still moving! It's Greg! Greg from Dallas, Texas gets this week's 10% bonus! Oh my! What a turn of events! Referring a friend gets them a magazine subscription (I'm not making this up) and if you wager $50 in one day you get thrown in a drawing for all kinds of crazy prizes. I'm not sure if these bonuses are meant to lure you in or push you out. Don't tell Mikey about the sportsbook, they might give him a stupid magazine subscription!

Customer Service

Customer service for Wager on Sports is generally good, although the live chat option is a tad slow. I asked the service guy why the lady in the ad seemed to be screaming in pain over the chance to win an Ipod and he told me those screams were those of joy. Either way, she scares me.

User Reviews

Everyone loves BetWWTS, one of Wager on Sports's sister sites. As a result of this relationship, Wager on Sports is trusted by the majority of users as a reliable sportsbook. I wouldn't worry, then, about them running off Jim Irsay style in the middle of the night with your Colts, er, your money.

Rating

I give Wager on Sports 3-star Richard Pryor award, with a star knocked off purely because of their parlay and teaser policy. It's a very peculiar policy, which is a lot like a drug dealer telling Richard Pryor to lay off the coke because it's bad for his health. It doesn't make any sense, but it might be better for the player to avoid risky parlays and stick with the straight bets. But shouldn't that be up to the junkie, I mean, the consumer to decide?
